Strandhill's Future Coast - Let's Plan It Together!
Help shape the future of Strandhill’s coastline! Join a community workshop on climate change, coastal change, and what comes next.
Strandhill’s coastline is changing—and your voice matters in shaping what comes next.
Join us for an interactive community workshop to explore the future of Strandhill’s coast. This session will introduce the CMAP (Coastal Monitoring and Adaptation Planning) project and highlight the vital role of local knowledge in shaping practical, place-based responses to coastal change.
You’ll have the opportunity to share your views, map local priorities, and contribute ideas that will inform future workshops and actions.
The workshop will include:
• A short introduction to the CMAP project
• Discussion on the future of Strandhill’s coast
• Mapping local needs, values, and priorities
• Examples of good practice from other coastal areas
• Opportunities to get involved in future activities
This event is open to anyone with a connection to Strandhill’s coast—residents, visitors, businesses, and community groups are all welcome.
Where? The National Surf Centre
When? Thursday 21 May, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Refreshments provided.
Strandhill is one of the communities taking part in the CMAP project, which works with coastal communities to better understand fragile beach and dune environments and plan for their future. Over the next three years (2026-2029), a series of workshops will bring together scientific research and local knowledge to co-design long-term, nature-based solutions for coastal resilience.
The CMAP project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). It is co-funded by the European Union, the Government of Ireland, the Government of the United Kingdom, and the Northern Ireland Executive.
