Grammy-winner and BBC Folk Music Award nominee Susan McKeown presents a programme of her own work including new songs about some extraordinary people who lived in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. Researched and written when she was a dlr Musician-in-Residence in 2018, Susan will bring these musical gems to the stage performing with wonderful musicians including pianist Darragh O'Kelly and Trevor Hutchinson on bass.
Susan McKeown is widely acknowledged to be one of the most powerful and innovative voices in Irish music. Susan began her song writing career at New York’s Sin-É Café and has since released 16 albums, performed with the likes of Pete Seeger, Natalie Merchant, Billy Bragg, Arlo Guthrie, and appeared at Glastonbury, The Edinburgh Festival and Carnegie Hall. Susan’s song ‘Everything We Had Was Good’ from her album Belong reached #1 on the American Folk Music Chart and the album reached #11.
