Event description

Description

The National Forum, in association with the IRC, funded a study to investigate ‘ Enabling Technology-Enhanced Assessment OF/FOR/AS Learning in Higher Education: The Evidence’ . The methodology of this study was primarily a systematic literature review and the identification of exemplars of good practice. This workshop therefore draws on the preliminary findings of this research (carried out by a research team in TCD) allowing an opportunity for a discussion on the research questions.

The morning session therefore is structured under these research questions and the afternoon session will allow some presentations and discussion on good practice exemplars (with some examples from technology-enabled work-based assessment).

The research questions were:

  • How can technology enhance staff efficiencies in the assessment OF/FOR/AS learning process?
  • What approaches could address staff concerns on the issue of student plagiarism that are often associated with technology-enhanced assessment of learning?
  • What models of assessment design can assist staff to harness the potential of technology to enhance student learning?
  • What types of learning environments do institutions need to provide to support technology-enhanced assessment OF/FOR/AS learning?

Facilitators include the TCD Research Team (Dr Ann Devitt, Dr. Mairead Brady, Dr. Rachel Kiersey) and the National Forum Team.
