About this event

To start the Artist's Way, you don't need to have arty skills or creative talents, or even have a creative goal in mind. This really is a safe place where no skills or talents are needed.

No skills necessary for this relaxed easy approach to Julia Cameron’s much-loved program for discovery and recovery of the creative self (or just the 'self').

My past pupils have talked about their TAW time as

'a godsend (that) has helped me through this tough time' P.G., Dublin, Ireland

‘This class is so so so good!’ C.R., California, USA

‘It really is amazing! It has been a complete eye opener for me🤗’ J.C., Scotland

‘I loved it when I did it! Highly recommend 😊’ N.H., Dublin, Ireland

Note: It is not an art class or a crafting class, but it may lead you to do more creative things.

Who is The Artist’s Way for?

People often aren't sure what to expect from this program, your life might be upside down right now with little time for yourself. If we are overwhelmed by life and can't find time for ourselves, then doing The Artist's Way helps us to return to ourselves and reclaim who we are after Life (capital 'L' intended 😆) has taken so much out of us.

Creativity (in any form - baking, brewing, writing, dancing) has been clinically proven to be GREAT for our mental health and sense of wellbeing. There's space here for you and your creativity (or perceived 'lack of').

So it’s for those of us who want to explore, recover, or heal, so that can include… nurses, engineers, IT heads, stay-at-home parents, company directors, unemployed, project managers, cabin crew, retirees, dentists, civil servants, … and you 😊

Leave your preconceived notions at the door along with other people's judgement of what and who you 'should' be.

What is The Artist’s Way? This 13-week program helps us discover and recover parts of ourselves we believed were not valuable. Tens of thousands of people have gently explored their pasts and themselves in this easy creativity-based book. Lots of people try to follow the book on their own, and not join a group. The book was designed for groups, and it's my job as facilitator to make your group small and safe. I have tried to do TAW on my own, but I quit countless times. It really is so much easier in a group.

When? 2 hours on a Saturday morning, 10am to 12pm. September 7th to November 30th inclusive, 2024

How do you join? Get your ticket here on EventBrite (€265). If you are worried about whether it's for you, drop me a line and we can talk over the phone, no hard sell, you talk, I talk, and we both hear whether or not it's your cup of tea 🫖

Who am I? I am Nicola McKenna, I am a Lusk local, a mammy, a neurodiverse ADHD lass, an empath, and recovering people-pleaser.

In 2017, I was seeking ‘something more’ and followed The Artist‘s Way book with a local group. It helped me with self-acceptance, compassion, and a more open heart during a difficult phase of life.

Learning that small easy creative ways brought me peace, identity, and completeness, I found I wanted to tell others about it. This is why I lead The Artist’s Way groups (7 groups so far, January 2024 is my 8th group 🎉

I take a kind approach to leading a group, and ask you to go as deeply or as lightly as your life and heart allow 🥰

What do you need? All you need is any copy of the book (it’s been around for 30 years). No talent or skills required, and in case you skipped over it earlier, this is not an art class and it’s not a writing class 😊

Life often gets in the way, so if you can’t attend all the classes, need to skip a week now and then, or leave early, I understand.

Where? in person in the Lusk Community Cultural centre, Church Road, Lusk, County Dublin Eircode K45 XY13

Is there parking available? Limited parking on site (usually there are spaces), or at SuperValu’s car park 300 metres away

Need help with something else? Drop me a line on nicolamck@hotmail.com or here on EventBrite. Looking forward to meeting you - Nicola 😉
