Taking place over the August Bank Holiday weekend (technically July 30th & 31st), the Beatyard is a melting pot of everything great in the world of music, food, drink, tech, science, games, sports, arts, design and discussion.
Music will provide the backdrop to the overall event with international headliners including the disco heroes Boney M, don of funk George Clinton with his full band Parliament Funkadelic, NYC soul/jazzer Roy Ayers, reggae legend Lee Scratch Perry, Grammy Award winning Brooklyn funksters Snarky Puppy, Chicago soul star Charles Bradley, Dublin's very own Jape, Limerick's might Rubberbandits, UK beatbox champ Reeps One, disco merchant Tensnake, Detroit hero Theo Parrish, Daniel Wang, DJ Rahaan, Stomptown Brass and many more.
Furthermore, the soon to be legendary Sing-A-Long Social run by Aoife McElwain will be rounding up punters to stretch their vocal chords along to the Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" album, in full site of the sea.
The Eatyard, our homage to everything glorious in the world of food, will triple in size and feature up to 30 food & drink vendors, chefs, demos, classes, and food competitions including Bray's magnificent Box Burger, one of Dublin's best sandwich joints 147 Deli, Asian street food kings Bread & Bones, Canadian speciality La La Poutine, a healthy dose of beans & salads from the Cool Bean Co anddeep south BBQ from Pitt Bros & much more. There'll also be guilty pleasure's finest Dublin Doughnut Co, Delish Melish Marshmallows, Arctic Stone Rolled Ice-Cream, 3FE Coffee and off course Teddy's Soft Ice-Cream on it's Dun Laoghaire home turf. Tippletown will return with specially themed drinks bars, cocktail and beer brewing competitions and classes, as well as featuring some of the best brewers, mixologists & bartenders from around the country.
A new area, Banteryard, will cover talks, panels, debates & discussions covering tech, science, health, fitness, politics, literature, gadgetry, and anything else of interest & fascination to us. The Gamesyard will feature an abundance of both sports & carnival games, retro video gaming and inflatables as well as a 60FT giant shark.
Our Studioyard will hone in on design, art & science with the Bernard Shaw Flea migrating to the Beatyard site for the weekend, Sole Food Sneaker Fair, Dublin Vintage Factory, Tola Vintage & Tasty Threads. We'll also have installations from Science Gallery Dublin, The Adventure Rooms and the Exploration Dome Planetarium.
This year the Beatyard is family friendly with a fully supervised and dedicated "Kidsyard" hosted by Recreate on the Saturday and Imaginosity Children's Museum on the Sunday, alongside hula hoop workshops, face painting, clay modelling, rainbow painting and a Draw session with the legendary Don Conroy. Kids 0-2 go free, Kids 2-12 are €5.
