Session 1: Wednesday May 22nd: 11am-12.30pm: Confident Conversations

The attendees will leave this session feeling more confident about having conversations. The tips in the session will help with conversations that may sometimes be difficult including giving or receiving feedback, or for conversations where there may be a chance of conflict arising.

● Self-awareness of your communication style ● How to prepare for & deal with difficult conversations ● Giving and receiving feedback ● Saying no/ creating and maintaining boundaries

Session 2: Wednesday June 5th: 11am-12.30pm: Assertiveness Skills

Would you like to express yourself effectively and stand up for your point of view? This could be in various situations including with family members and medical consultants. You will leave the session with a better understanding of assertiveness and most importantly knowing how to apply your assertiveness skills to real-life scenarios such as defending your personal boundaries or getting your point across respectfully. This session will include the following sections:

● What is assertiveness (& what it isn’t) ● What holds you back from feeling more assertive (incl societal messages) ● Exploring passive, aggressive and assertive communication (incl. Windows of the world) ● Tips for communicating more assertively in different situations (including saying ‘no’ and disagreeing assertively)

Session 3: Tuesday June 11th: 7pm-8.30pm: Influencing and Advocacy Skills

You will leave this session understanding how you can influence others to consider your point of view. Influencing can be seen as the art of persuasion. This could be useful for lots of scenarios including; being an advocate, on school committees, family groups, work situations, or even in your friendship circle.

● What are influencing skills? ● How to advocate for yourself and others ● Win-win model and how it applies to real-life situations ● Emotional intelligence and how it helps with influencing, assertiveness and advocating

The sessions can all work as stand-alone sessions if you can't make all 3 sessions.
