Some of the next generation of the famous Clancy Dynasty, along with a few buddies. Expect rip roaring songs & craic and a surprise or two!!
The Clancy boys are an exciting new young band from The Deise, all with great musical pedigree, doing the old songs their own way.
The Clancy Boys are:
Colm Clancy (vocals, guitar, banjo)
Liam Clancy (vocal, spoons, bodhran)
Fiachna Ó Lochlainn (vocals, bodhran and whatnot)
Molua Mac Seain (vocals and guitar)
Dinny Ó Gealbháin ( fiddle and vocals)
They are devilish, and a touch wild, young fellows who sing the old ballads for the craic.
They have their inimitable own style of doing things, and a lot of time it just happens in the moment.
Most of the songs are old songs they got from their grandparents, or from family gatherings, but they put their own stamp on them.
Songs like the Jolly Tinker, Bold O Donoghue, The Mermaid, Sound the Piobrach, and The Wild Rover get The Clancy Boys special treatment
Reviews/Quotes
“These boys have this music by nature AND nurture, having listened to or been told about it their whole lives! They all capture perfectly the spirit and the excitement of the original Clancy Bros. They have the exact same fun, craic, love of life and genuine love of the material that their forebears had.. “ Joe Power, singer and raconteur.
“The Clancy Boys feature some of the next generation of the world renowned Clancy dynasty plus a few friends. No shortage of craic, and plenty of great songs as you'd expect. Keep an eye out for these boys!!! They may even visit The Seantí......” Ronan Dempsey, The Seanti.
“A truly outstanding live show—The Clancy Boys combine powerful songs, engaging theatre, and real integrity in a way that stays with you.” Benny McCarthy, musician (Danu, Miscellany Of Folk, Tim Sandwich Band) and producer
“I’m very proud of them all, they always surprise me with their mad ideas” Donal Clancy, singer and musician
“I promoted the first show for The Clancy Boys. I knew it was going to be special before they sang a note. There is a divilment and wildness about them. They have a sense of theatre as well, a rarity these days. The show was good fun all the way. The Sold Out house loved every minute of it, everyone was smiling from ear to ear. “ Gerry Lawless, Clonmel World Music
