What is involved in the event?

The Colossus is a self-guided audio and visual walk, using downloaded apps, on a short walking route around North Clondalkin. Audiences will be provided with maps and can also reference intermittent way-finders marked on footpaths.

What do I need to experience The Colossus ?

Accepted Answer

Headphones are essential for this experience as well as particular apps. Install the free Soundcloud App on your phone/tablet and the free Adobe Aero App on your phone/tablet. Charge the device you will be using (there are charging facilities available in the North Clondalkin Library).

What do I need to know about using the apps?

Accepted Answer

Apple device users will need to alternate between the Soundcloud app and the Adobe Aero App during the work. Android users will use only the Soundcloud app. The augmented reality aspect of the work is not compatible with Android.

What device is compatible with the app?

Accepted Answer

The augmented reality aspect of The Colossus will only work for Apple devices. Android users can experience the audio for the complete walking tour without augmented reality. The augmented reality is not compatible with Android Devices.

Question 5

How long is the walk?

Accepted Answer

The walk is approximately 2km along public footpaths and takes 45 minutes, ending at back at North Clondalkin Library. The route is wheelchair accessible.

Question 6

How and where will The Colossus start?

Accepted Answer

Audiences will be given an introduction to the project by an invigilator in North Clondalkin Library and briefed on how to engage with the work before departing.

What should I consider when attending?

Accepted Answer

If using wireless headphones, charge them in advance. Please dress appropriately: the work takes places outdoors. Please remain aware of your surroundings while using augmented reality.

Suitable for 16+. The Colossus contains themes of a sensitive nature including drug use and bereavement by suicide.
