About this event

The Lute & Virginal were to be heard everywhere throughout Europe in the 16th and early 17th centuries. The Virginal is a smaller and more delicate relative of the familiar harpsichord. The Lute was common instrument in domestic and aristocratic settings of the time.

Three handwritten manuscripts held in Trinity Library– the Ballet, Dallis, and Dublin Virginal Mss – give us a precious glimpse of music played and enjoyed in Ireland at that time.

Rachel Factor and Eamon Sweeney are award-winning musicians and specialists in the music of this period. They are delighted to present an intimate concert of this very special repertoire.
