Description
The Centre for Global Development at UCC is pleased to host the Irish launch of the EAT-Lancet Commission Report on Food, Planet, Health
This event is held in conjunction with Cork University Business School and the Irish Forum for International Agricultural Development
The EAT-Lancet Commission on Food, Planet, Health brings together more than 30 leading scientists from across the globe to provide targets for healthy diets and sustainable production systems. The Commission conducted a scientific review of what constitutes a healthy diet, and then independently described Earth System targets for sustainability. It then assessed the impacts of shifts to healthy diets on environmental limits. The Commission finds that it is possible to provide healthy diets within environmental limits for all by 2050 but that achieving these targets requires significant dietary shifts, reductions in food loss and waste, and sustainable intensification of agriculture. The Commission concludes with five high level recommendations to catalyze and support food system transformation.
This event will present a global review of the report and consider implications for Ireland.
