About this Event

Shirley Lanigan has been visiting gardens professionally for over two decades. When she began, Leinster was the undoubted All-Ireland Champion when it came to horticulture - although some Cork people might take issue with that. In that time how have the gardens, within the Pale and its surroundings, fared? What is new? What is fab? What is drab? Is Leinster still the champion, or slipping down the rankings?

What is the state of play in the world of Leinster gardens? Shirley will share her favourites and ask a few questions.Shirley Lanigan has been visiting other people’s gardens and writing about them for what seems like forever. She began writing for 'The Irish Garden' magazine twenty years ago and in that time she has contributed garden writing to a range of publications from 'The Good Gardens Guide', and the Evening Herald to farming and travel magazines, medical periodicals and religious journals. Her 4th book, The Open Gardens of Ireland, was published in 2018 to great acclaim.

Meanwhile, book number five is on the horizon...
