The Historic Streets of London

Friday 16th March 2018, 6.00pm-9.00pm

Barnard's Inn Hall, Holborn

These public talks and discussion look at how people lived, worked, played in the streets of medieval and early modern London. Talks will be given by Vanessa Harding (Birkbeck) and Caroline Barron (Royal Holloway) on mapping the streets of London in 1520; James Davis (Queen's Univ. Belfast) on medieval street life; and Charlie Taverner (Birkbeck) on the street hawkers of early modern London. There will also be discussion about the historic towns atlas for London.

The seminar takes place in the historic Barnard’s Inn Hall, which was a high-status house in the late 14th and 15th centuries. There is a small fee for the event (£5), which includes a wine reception.
