The Next Chapter
A workshop for those considering their next stage in life. “What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” Mary Oliver
The Next Chapter
Two days to get clear on what you want next - and create a roadmap to make it happen.
7 & 8 November 2026 | 9:30am–4:30pm
Malahide Parish Centre, 1 Main Street, Malahide, Dublin
Maybe you've reached a point in your career where you're wondering, Is this really what I want to keep doing?
Maybe you're considering a career change, starting something of your own, returning to something you've always wanted to do, or simply creating a different kind of life for the years ahead.
Maybe you're approaching retirement.
You know you're ready for something different.
The problem is, you're not quite sure what that looks like yet — or where to begin.
The Next Chapter is a two-day workshop designed to help you figure that out.
This isn't about someone telling you what you should do next.
It's about giving you the space, structure, expert guidance and practical tools to uncover what matters to you now, recognise the strengths you already have, explore the possibilities available to you — and turn those insights into a clear direction for your next chapter.
“What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
— Mary Oliver
You don't need another self-help book. You need a way forward.
There is no shortage of advice about finding your purpose, reinventing yourself or creating a life you love.
But more information doesn't necessarily create more clarity.
Your coaches, Jan Edgar and Dr Angela Boyhan, have spent years studying and working with the tools, research and methodologies behind personal growth, behavioural science, coaching and life design.
They've done the reading, the research and the training — so you don't have to.
Over two focused days, they'll guide you through a structured process to help you answer the questions that can otherwise take months — or even years — to figure out on your own:
● Who am I, and how did I get here?
● What really matters to me now? What do I value?
● What could my next chapter actually look like?
● And what do I need to do next to make it happen?
What you'll walk away with after two days
This isn't a workshop where you leave with book suggestions or a notebook full of interesting ideas that you never look at again.
You'll leave with your next chapter beginning to take shape.
1. Be clear on who you are now
What have your career and life experiences taught you?
What strengths, skills and aptitudes could you bring into your next chapter — including some you may have taken for granted?
You'll leave with a clearer picture of the unique strengths you already have to work with.
2. A clear understanding of your Values
You'll identify the values that matter most to you now — not the ones you think you should have, or the ones that may have driven your decisions 10 or 20 years ago.
You'll begin to understand what you want this next stage of your life to stand for and use those values as a compass for the decisions ahead.
3. A vision for your next chapter and possibilities for what comes next
You'll explore your interests, opportunities and the possibilities that could fit the person you are today.
That might mean a completely different career.
A portfolio career.
Consulting.
Starting a business.
Volunteering or contributing to something meaningful.
A creative pursuit.
Retirement — but on your terms.
Or something you haven't considered yet.
You'll bring your values, strengths and interests together to create a picture of the life you actually want to move towards.
Instead of simply thinking “I know I want something different”, you'll begin to define what different means for you.
The goal isn't to force yourself into an answer. It's to open up possibilities and then identify which ones genuinely fit you.
4. Your personal roadmap for what to do next
Most importantly, over the two days, we'll turn insight into action.
You'll identify your best next steps and create a practical roadmap for moving forward.
Because clarity is powerful — but clarity combined with action is what creates change.
By the end of Day Two, you'll know far more clearly:
● What matters to you
● What you're good at
● What possibilities you want to explore
● What you want your next chapter to look and feel like
● What your next steps are to begin making it real
The Values Bridge Methodology
At the heart of the workshop is the Values Bridge Methodology, a decision-making and life-design framework grounded in behavioural science, helping you move beyond “I don't know what I want next” and begin creating a personal roadmap based on who you are, what matters to you and how you want to spend the next chapter of your life. The Values Bridge Methodology, has been developed by Prof Suzy Welch, NYU Stern Business School and Director of NYU Stern Initiative on Purpose & Flourishing.
Your facilitators
Jan Edgar and Dr Angela Boyhan are experienced leaders in global corporations and EMCC-accredited Executive Coaches, trained through UCD Smurfit Business School, Dublin.
They are also certified Becoming You Coaches through New York University Stern School of Business.
Together, Jan and Angela combine extensive leadership experience with coaching, behavioural science and practical life-design tools to help people move from uncertainty to clarity.
The programme was successfully piloted earlier this year with DCU Alumni and participants from the DCU Emerging Leaders programme.
'I left the session feeling affirmed in my values and my determination to live a life aligned with them.' MK
‘I was empowered with not only great takeaways and different perspectives from our discussions, but also a variety of resources which will prove useful for both keeping me on track towards my goals and for helping me to reflect on my progress’ Jennifer
Participants particularly valued the practical activities, thoughtful conversations and tools they could continue to use beyond the workshop.
Your Next Chapter starts here.
You don't need to have your future figured out before you come.
You don't need a five-year plan.
And you certainly don't need to read another stack of books hoping one of them will finally give you the answer.
Over two days, we'll give you the framework, guidance and space to start finding your answers
