The REANNZ IP refresh

Research data transfers occur unpredictably and can be extraordinarily large, often a single transfer can exceed the combined bandwidth usage of all other users of the network. Supporting research requires a network to be designed with ample excess capacity, without compromising reliability. Achieving these requirements while keeping costs down is a delicate balancing act. This talk covers how these three factors (capacity, reliability and cost) were addressed during REANNZ's core IP network hardware refresh in 2016.
