In 2010, 11 Traveller women, Traveller activist Catherine Joyce and theatre director Dylan Tighe created a new version of Lorca's classic play 'The House of Bernarda Alba' which was performed to great success both at the Project Arts Centre and again in 2011 at Axis Ballymun The show was produced in association with Blanchardstown Traveller Development Group (BTDG) and Irish Traveller Movement (ITM). created a new version of Lorca's classic play 'The House of Bernarda Alba' which was performed to great success both at the Project Arts Centre and again in 2011 at Axis Ballymun The show was produced in association with Blanchardstown Traveller Development Group (BTDG) and Irish Traveller Movement (ITM).
The recording of the show stands as a unique record of this special theatrical event and will be presented as a one-off screening at the Irish Film Institute as part of Traveller Pride Week 2024.
Proceeds will go to Women's Aid and The Blanchardstown Traveller Development Group (BTDG).
