Description

ICRT17 - A Partnership Event Between the Irish Centre for Responsible Tourism & Fáilte Ireland

Conference theme: The Visitor Management Challenge - Getting the Balance Right

The 2017 event will be the 4th in our annual series of conferences that aim to stimulate discussion and highlight the growth of responsible tourism in Ireland. This event will be a collaboration between ICRT and Fáilte Ireland.

This event, aimed at key industry influencers & change-makers in Ireland, will address the issue of visitor management in destinations. Some destinations in Ireland are perceived as attracting too many visitors, with potential associated adverse impacts on local communities and environments. Other destinations appear to be attracting too few visitors, leading to the potential for stagnation and reduced economic opportunities. How do we find the balance?

The conference will be opened by Paul Kelly, the new Chief Executive of Fáilte Ireland. Speakers will include international experts from Barcelona & the UK as well as local authorities, tourism consultants, destination management organisations, and industry experts from the island of Ireland.
