About this event
Urban Hosts is a programme of events, which provokes and promotes practical approaches to urban life. Addressing topics relevant to contemporary techno-civic issues, the programme brings together people who are actively producing alternatives to our given city infrastructures, norms and perceptions. The 2020 programme continues to focus on issues relating to data, automation, ethics; network society, privacy and surveillance and cultures of repair, care, maintenance and commoning. Taking a critical approach to developments in these fields and how they shape everyday futures the programme brings together a number of key practitioners (scholars, artists, designers, policy makers, activists, councilors, programmes, data brokers, charities and enterprises) who are working in this field.
Speakers include:
Manuel Beltrán [ES/NL]
Founder of the Data Workers Union addresses data exploitation and colonialism, through data cooperativism, tax, income and infrastructure.
Alina Wernick [DE]
Legal scholar discusses issues and concerns relating to the use of personal data and eHealth technologies.
Kasia Molga [UK]
Artist working with soil, pollution and biological data shares her approach to making immersive media, installation and performances.
