About this event

  • 10 hours

The ISA Fundraiser Walk and Talk event will be held on Saturday June 22nd , we would love for you to join us. We have created two walk options; a full day walk and a half day walk.

Location: Dublin Mountains Way, Tallaght to Shankill, Co Dublin.

Meeting Point: 8am, Saturday June 22nd , at the Tallaght Luas Stop.

Length of Walk: 9 to 10 hours including refreshment breaks.

What is the Walk and Talk?

This will be a social gathering and will provide an opportunity for those who stammer, their family and friends, or those with an interest in stammering to walk and talk along the 42km Dublin Mountains Way (DMW). The DMW offers stunning city vistas through forests and mountains and back to Dublin Bay. The entire route from Tallaght to Shankill is fully waymarked with the yellow walking man symbol. As the group will walk for between 9 to 10 hours, it is not suitable for children under the age of 16. We will be raising funds for Irish Stammering Association. The walk will be led by someone familiar with the DMW.

Join us on this epic walk across the Dublin mountains. You’ll never look at the mountains surrounding the capital city in the same way again!

How do I take part?

Please express your interest in this event before Friday 7th June 2024.

What fitness level do I need?

  • Option #1 is to walk the entire DMW 42km DMW route. If you can walk for between 9 to 10 hours, you are fit enough to join. We will move at the pace of our most leisurely walker.
  • Option #2 is to join the Walk and Talk at 12.30pm near the halfway point, Zip-It in Tirbradden woods (approx. 20k)

What should I bring?

Please ensure to wear proper mountain clothes and footwear. There are limited opportunities to buy refreshments, so make sure to carry enough food and water for the walk.

How do I get there?

● Both Tallaght and Shankill are serviced by public transport services. See https://www.transportforireland.ie/plan-a-journey/

● For those joining at Zip-It in Tirbradden Woods, you may need to organise a lift or book a taxi from Dundrum or Rathfarnham.

How do I fundraise?

You will be sent a link to join our fundraising team and instructions after registration. We are asking each participant to strive for a minimum of €200 fundraising target.
