Watercolour Daffodils Workshop
Get ready to splash some sunny vibes onto paper and bring daffodils to life with watercolours in a relaxing workshop.
Welcome to the Watercolour Daffodil Workshop, a two-part creative activity designed to celebrate the beauty and resilience of the first spring flowers. Whether you are a total beginner or a more advanced painter looking to shake off the winter rust, you are welcome to explore with me the versatile charm of daffodils: their delicate, scientific structure and their vibrant, dancing spirit.
Over two modules, we will move from the rhythmic discipline of brushwork to the experimental and "controlled chaos" of mixed textures, evocative backgrounds, and rich hues.

Agenda
-
Module 1: The Dance of the Brush. Loose Realism & Fluidity
Theme: In this first session, we focus on the "soul" of the daffodil. We’ll strip away the need for perfection and focus on the relationship between your hand, the water, and the paper. ❤ Pressure & Precision: Master the "press and lift" technique to create organic petal shapes with a single stroke. ❤ The Language of Marks: We’ll practise rhythmic patterns—finding meditative ways of expression. ❤ Composition Basics: Learn the "Rule of Thirds" to place your flowers in a way that feels natural and dynamic rather than static. ❤ The Finale: You will create a Loose Watercolour Study, letting the colours bleed and blend (wet-on-wet) to capture the light and movement of a breeze-blown daffodil.

Module 2: Texture & Transcendence. Abstract Elegance
Now that we understand the form, it’s time to break the rules. This module is about "finding" the flower within rich, atmospheric backgrounds using unconventional tools. ❤ The Alchemist’s Toolkit: We will experiment with salt to create crystalline "frost" effects, cling film for sharp, glacial crinkles, and bubble wrap for honeycomb-like geometric patterns. ❤Atmospheric Depth: Learn how to build a "beautiful background" first, allowing the textures to dictate where the light falls. ❤ Negative Space Painting: Instead of painting the flower, we will focus on painting several layers of the background to reveal the silhouette. ❤ The Finale: We finish with an Abstract Elegant Daffodil. This piece will combine high-contrast textures with minimal, sophisticated details.
