Who's Listening? WLD Community Conference 2017
Sat 8 April 2017, 09:30 – 13:30 IST
Wexford Local Development welcomes representatives from Local Community Groups throughout Co. Wexford to join with us on the 8th April, 2017 to talk about participating for social change.
We plan to ask the hard questions about why communities should engage?
- What opportunities really exist for community participation and what would be the benefit of getting involved?
- What can or should be the impact of getting involved in your local community and attempting to have your voice heard?
- Who is really listening?
- Will it make any difference to our lives?
Wexford Local Development is also working on creating more opportunities for communities to get involved in shaping programme delivery and policy making within the local and community development sector here in the county. Our Community Teams are the cornerstone of this effort and will play an increasingly important role in guiding the future direction of our company and its work. This year’s conference aims to open up this discussion and feed into a new phase of development both for ourselves and for the communities we exist to serve
We have invited a number of speakers to address the conference, including Minister Catherine Byrne, TD, to discuss community participation and active citizenship in its broadest sense, to explore what we feel our community leaders should aspire to, to ensure that they are being listened to and that communities in Wexford don’t continue to be left behind.
