My name is Katie, and I’m a play therapist based in Gorey. I primarily work with children aged 4–12, offering a non-directive play therapy service. Sessions are gentle, creative, and pressure-free, allowing children to express themselves in ways that feel safe and natural to them.

I work with children who may be experiencing anxiety or worries, difficulties with emotional regulation, big feelings that are hard to put into words, changes within their family, or challenges with confidence, friendships, or transitions. Some children come to play therapy because something specific has happened, while others come because things feel overwhelming, even if they can’t quite explain why.

Before qualifying as a play therapist in 2024, my work included various roles within health and social care settings, where I supported both adults and children and families across a range of environments. This background shaped how seriously I hold care, responsibility, and the influence adults have in children’s lives.

Alongside my professional journey, my own lived experience has played a big part in shaping the way I understand care. It has influenced how attuned I am to children’s needs and why safety, trust, and being genuinely listened to matter so deeply to me. I’ve learned that small, consistent moments of care can have a lasting impact. I’m someone who values depth over quick fixes, authenticity over perfection, and presence over pressure. I believe children need adults who can move at their pace, notice what’s underneath behaviour, and offer steadiness when things feel hard
