Crann - Trees for Ireland
Ireland’s leading tree charity ‘Crann – Trees for Ireland’ launched in 1986, Crann has spent the last four decades campaigning to build a greater love and appreciation of trees among the Irish public and has a nationwide Membership.
Crann has a very simple mission statement. It aims “to enhance the environment of Ireland through planting and protecting the right trees in the right places and promoting and increasing awareness about the benefits of our trees and woodlands”.
Crann produces Crann Magazine twice a year and a Calendar which highlights entries from the annual photo competition.
Crann runs schools’ projects nationwide which are hosted by its education team. The workshops support schools in the creation of a school garden or mini-woodland which becomes an outdoor classroom.
Crann had major tree planting projects e.g. Crann Easy Treesie planting 1million trees with school children nationwide and the Giants Grove redwoods tree planting project at Birr Castle. Crann partners with community groups, Tidy Towns committees and commercial companies to deliver tree planting projects of differing sizes.
