Amanda Mc Guinness

Amanda Mc Guinness is a Law Graduate, autistic adult, Autism Consultant, and Visual Support Designer from the West of Ireland. She is an experienced Webinar/Workshop Facilitator, presenting to parents and professionals all over the world online and in person.

She is a mother to 4 children, 3 of whom are autistic. Amanda's children have varying degrees of support needs and multiple co-morbid dx including intellectual disability, learning difficulties, sensory processing differences, apraxia of speech, dyspraxia, anxiety, insomnia.

Amanda's Visual Supports have been featured on and recommended by Government bodies, organisations, charities and associations all over the world. To name but a few: the NHS, HSE, AsIam, The National Autistic Society UK, The National Autism Association of America, New South Wales Government, Dr. Stephen Shore, Jed E. Baker, have featured and recommended Amanda's Visual Supports.

Amanda is most well known online for her philanthropic design and sharing of visual supports and educational resources to families of children with additional needs the world over.

Her most recent design “What is the Coronavirus?” Social Story became a viral sensation when Amanda designed and shared for free online, the Social Story(TM), to support children just like her own, who were struggling to understand what was happening and why their world had changed so drastically in an instant.

Amanda and her family have been sharing their lives on-line since 2015 when Amanda launched Mayo’s first autism family blog -The Little Puddins Blog.

Through her family blog Amanda and her family have been on the most extraordinary journey, through TV appearances on The Late Late Show as Autism Ambassadors, to appearances on Prime Time, Ireland AM, RTÉ News and Virgin Media. Amanda and her little Puddins have featured in print and on-line across the world. Amanda’s lived experience as an autistic individual, her lived experience raising and home-schooling her three autistic sons together with her professional experience as an Autism Consultant and Early Intervention Educator, inspires parents of children with additional needs all over the world through her online social media platforms.

On the birth of Amanda's first son with additional needs, Amanda walked away from her Law Career and dedicated her life to support her children's progress. 40 years of lived experience as an autistic female together with over a decade of experience supporting her children, Amanda has a wealth of lived experience to share, together with her Professional experience, training and qualifications over the last decade.
