National LGBT Federation ( NXF) and GCN

Established in 1979, the NXF is the oldest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) NGO in Ireland. The NXF publishes Gay Community News (GCN) and campaigns for the equal rights of, and to combat discrimination against, LGBT people in Ireland & internationally.

GCN is the national LGBT news-magazine of record and the key information resource for the Irish LGBT community.

  • NXF is a registered charity and not for profit company. Strategic direction of the organisation is provided by the NXF Board. The organisation influences policy development at national and international levels to promote equality for LGBT people through active involvement in civil society.

The NXF also organises the GALAs: the annual LGBT awards. The GALAs honours lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people and organisations for their contributions to Irish society, both north and south of the border. The awards, now in their fourth year, also honour politicians, employers and other people who are committed to advancing equality and social acceptance for LGBT people in Ireland.
