NorthStar Family Support Project

The NorthStar Family Support Project is a long-established and well-trusted community based service, working with individuals and families in the Limerick region affected by the substance misuse of a loved one. The organisation provides a range of targeted supports and services to its participants, which are designed to address individual and family challenges resulting from proximity to substance misuse. Among others, these include:

• one to one support;

• peer support;

• educational and recreational social groups;

• access to counselling and complementary therapies;

• respite;

• opportunities for participants to join advisory and other peer lead groups with a focus on the continuous development of the service and supports.

The supports of the NorthStar Project are universally available to all adults, aged 18 years and over, living in Limerick city and county. Where necessary and appropriate, NorthStar also signposts and refers participants to the supports of organisations that can expertly provide them.
