Children's Research Network 2019 Annual Conference
Event Information
About this Event
The conference is the Network’s flagship annual networking event. This year the theme of the event is Children Should be Seen and Heard. This theme has been chosen as a way for us all to reflect on the ways children are seen and heard in our societies, as well as the ways they should be (meaningfully) seen and heard.
This year, we are also celebrating the new collaboration between the Children’s Research Network and the Trinity Research in Childhood Centre (TRiCC) – CRN’s home since early 2019. The conference will be held in the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute, TBSI, Pearse Street (just opposite Chartered Accountants where the conference has been held in previous years).
On the evening of Wednesday 4th December, TRiCC welcomes the Trinity College community and conference attendees to a special lecture by Professor Neil Marlow who has led seminal research on long term outcomes for extremely preterm infants. The lecture will followed by a networking reception to which all are welcome. Then on Thursday 5th December, we hold our full day conference (9.30am-5pm), commencing with a Welcome speech by the Dean of Research, Trinity College Dublin, Professor Linda Doyle, and featuring a key note from the new Special Rapporteur for Children, Dr Conor O’Mahony.
The aim of the CRN Annual Conference is to provide an opportunity for researchers, policymakers and practitioners to come together to hear about and share quality research and practice involving children and young people in a way that is both participatory and practical. To achieve this aim, the conference will include an array of practical workshops, posters and oral presentations from individuals across academic, statutory, community, and voluntary sectors, in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
