About this event

This event which is part of our seminar series will feature short presentations on recent research findings from Dr Steve Davis, Assistant Professor at UCD School of Archaeology (insects), Dr Daisy Spencer, Environmental Archaeologist at IAC Ltd (pollen) and Dr David Stone, recently completed PhD at UCD School of Archaeology (plant macro-remains). These presentations will take place during Heritage week 2021.

Presentation titles:

Steve Davis: Archaeological insect analysis in Ireland: Past, Present and Future

David Stone: Archaeobotany in Azerbaijan: Contribution of plant macro-remains analyses to the understanding of agriculture and diet in Late Antique and Islamic period Bardha’a (2nd–16th century)

Daisy Spencer: New insights into prehistoric farming from pollen analysis

The presentations will be followed by a chaired panel discussion.

Our first event will take place online on Thursday 19th August from 7pm to 8.30pm (Dublin time; UTC/GMT +1).

The theme of the event is “Environmental archaeology in Ireland: new perspectives”.
