“Dialogic Practice”

Hearing, respecting and validating service users and networks

On this day the Cork & Kerry Open Dialogue team will introduce dialogic practice in mental health and create opportunities for discussion with staff, families and service users of their experience with this approach.

Experiential workshops will be provided on Dialogic practice applied to your work; Arts & Mental Health Dialgic Practice: Recovery stories; and Trialogues (Dialogic practice in Community).

Invited workshop presenters will include Volkmar Aderhold, Consultant Psychiatrist and Open Dialogue Trainer in Germany and the US New York Parachute (open dialogue) project and Dr Liam MacGabhann, Head of School of Nursing DCU and founder of Mental Health Trialogue Ireland.

Open Dialogue

An innovative dialogic network based model of mental health care

On this day the Cork & Kerry Open Dialogue team will introduce Open Dialogue in mental health and create opportunities for discussion with staff, families and service users of their experience with this approach. Invited speakers include Mia Kurtti (Open Dialogue Therapist & Trainer) on Open Dialogue in Finland and Dr Russell Razzaque (Consultant Psychiatrist & Head of the UK NHS Open Dialogue Trial) on Open Dialogue research.

Experiential workshops will be provided on implementing Open Dialogue in Irish Mental health system; Open Dialogue and Psychosis, and Peer work in Open Dialogue. Invited workshop presenters will include Volkmar Aderhold, consultant psychiatrist and Open Dialogue Trainer in Germany and the US New York Parachute (open dialogue) project and Flick Grey, mad academic, peer activist and Open Dialogue practitioner.


Admission is free to Cork & Kerry HSE and NLN staff, UCC staff/ students, and service users/carers

CPD attendance certificates will be provided on request.
