Wild Camp & Hike the Beara Way - Bere Island

Hey adventurers! Are you ready to embark on an unforgettable journey along the stunning Beara Way, West Cork? Join us for an unforgettable a fully supported and geared camping experience like no other as we hike through the breathtaking Beara Peninsula. Get ready to immerse yourself in rugged landscape, sleep under the stars, and reconnected with your nature.

Over 3 days, our experienced guides will lead you through rugged landscapes, wild Atlantic coastline and native Irish woods. You'll have the chance to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with the great outdoors. Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to the wild, this adventure is perfect for anyone looking to escape the ordinary.

We have following options for you to make this event excessible to all

  • Intro - You are new to Wild Camping and require all equipment and instruction. Also you believe that your fitness levels might hold you back . We will supply you with all equipmet and transport the majority of your gear to tghe next location.
  • Novice - You are novice or experienced hiker and want to experience muliti-day wild camping. We will supply you with your equipment and guidance.
  • Pro - You are an experienced wild camper and hiker, you have all your equipment but you will like to join the expediation for the experience.

Equipment provided: Sleeping system: Professional litewight 2 pers tent, inflatible mattress and pillow. Cooking system: gas burner(for 2). Drinking system: Water filter and hyrdation system. 50L Rucksack with waterproof protection. Hiking poles.


Day1 - Start from Glengarriff village, up through Glengarriff woods on the Beara Way. Climb up to the Sugarloaf pass, made famous by the Ulimate Hell Week as the forced route march. Lunch at Toberavanaha lake. Continue hiking along the Beara Way down to our camp for night one at Adrigole. Dinner cooked on an open fire, camping under the open sky's by the Atlantic ocean.

Day2: Awake with the sun, and break down our camp after some breakfast. Continuing on the SW Beara Way towards the slopes of the famous Hungry Hill, climbing the SE ridge, breathtaking views await! Lunch will at the foot of Hungry Hill. Afterwards the final push for the Ferry to Bere Island. Once arrived on Island we'll have a short hike to the camp area and setup camp for night. Afterwards, you'll have your own time to grab a pint or explore the Islands many surprises.

Day3: Awake to the dawn chorus by the Islans's native birds. Breakfast and break down the camp. Afterwards we'll set off for the Ogham stone at the centre of the Island. Hiking up to high cross on the higest point of the Island. Then walking to Ardnakinna lighthouse, this is one Irelands finest and stunning walks, absolutely magical! A short hike back to the ferry and ferry back to the mainland. You'll then be transported back to Glengarrif.


An epic journey, time will seems to have stood still, and you might just notice sometime new about yourselves!

What level of fitness do I require for this expedition?

Its recommended that you have at least an intermediate level of fitness, you are engaged in regular exercise routine with moderate intensity.

Do I need to be an experienced hiker or mountaineer for this event?

You don't need to be an experienced seasoned adventurer. The Solcoach will ensure you are safe and secure. But as this is the rugged and mountainous off path route you'll need to comfortable with the natural terrain and obstacles.

What equipment will be supplied for the expedition?

Insurance Cover?

Solcoach are insured to guide groups on stated marked routes, such as the Beara Way, any deviation from the route shall be responsibility of the individual. Therefore, all attendees will be expected to sign a waiver.

What happens if the weather is bad, will the event go ahead?

The event go ahead in all weathers, except if there is an Orange level or above warning for the West Cork area. Our tents and systems are all season equipment and completely water proof, and there an expectation to prepare for all weathers.

Will there be any joining instructions or preplanning meetings?

Yes, there'll be a list of preparation instructions and a preplanning meeting one week before the schduled dated. Our team will be on hand to answer any questions anytime.

Will I need to have a sleeping bag?

Yes you'll be expected to have your own sleeping bag due to hygiene reason these are regarded as a personal item. Don't be concerned with purchasing a really expensive one, there's some great values we can recommend.
